[400] In a State of Meh

Had an excellent Memorial Day weekend by visiting relatives on both sides of the family and taking a break from the usual turmoil of the past few months.  I keep ignoring how our leaders continue in denial and trying to do business as usual.  I keep getting sick of nobody seeing how this problems relate to them.  As long as I receive a check and they don't touch my interests there is no problem.
So I am in a state of meh.

A similar state that happened when I initially divorced Mildred.
I was so busy doing so many things that I never really had a chance to grieve the negative turn of events.  But I moved on.

Those interested on divorce related issues can check previous installments of the Alcantarilla:

Some photos explaining recent events:

[1] I always liked the background paintings on Parks and Recreation.  This mural depicts the first interracial marriage of Pawnee IN.  Followed by the bloody confontation of indians and settlers...Just a good correlation on all the flak I keep receiving on taking Mildred back home.  Of course, I am not to happy about it but it is the closest I could do to have my son near me.

[2] The Jean and Scott strip by Max Wittert (excerpts here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/kevintang/the-best-comics-about-jean-grey-doing-whatever-the-hell-she#.fb8A03OyD) pretty much summarizes the chemistry between annoying me and codependent her.

[3] Polarizing Press

So in summary all this speculation keeps me in a state of meh.  Checking what to cut and to do to manage my cashless self.  Churn out

[331] Leyendo Sobre Distopia

Yo he optado por leer y oir musica.

http://www.metafilter.com/132643/The-New-Canon

http://blog.lareviewofbooks.org/deartv/77/

WHEN I WAS AN UNDERGRAD, my professor would talk about stars and directors by showing us actual slides of them, all loaded up into the Don Draper “Carousel.” Clips were on actual film, with actual projectionists, or an assortment of badly edited VHS tapes. When a professor recommended a film, I’d go to the video store and rent it for 99 cents, the standard fee for classic movies. I never missed a screening, because it would be nearly impossible to find many of the films on my own, let alone someone with a VHS that wasn’t the common room at the end of my dorm floor. It was the good old analog days, when film and media studies was still nascent, the internet only barely past dial-up, and internet media culture as we know it limited to a healthy growth of BBS, listservs, and AOL chat rooms. It was also less than 15 years ago

By the way, Hulu Plus tiene un canal dedicado a criterion collection.

Sin embargo nunca me dio con leer Brave New World.

http://www.prosebeforehos.com/image-of-the-day/08/24/huxley-vs-orwell-infinite-distraction-or-government-oppression/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amusing_Ourselves_to_Death

El autor tambien redacto este libro:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacturing_Consent

Tema 3: Otro libro enfocado a niñ
http://www.lucyknisley.com/galleries/Illustrations/images/3551
http://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/the-giver

Churn out...

[303] The Siege of Kobbo

http://alcantarillaalquimica.blogspot.com/2012/04/261-illustrated-post.html

The siege seems to be turning!

http://www.latinorebels.com/2012/12/14/the-daily-show-does-piece-on-la-comay-and-makes-no-mention-of-current-boycott/

Do markets produce the right amount of boycotts? Are there too few boycotts from the social point of view? This is a challenging welfare issue. In an individualistic society with utilitarian preferences, the well-being of (all) citizens are often taken as the starting point for the evaluation of the social welfare. Boycotts enhance the market position of well-behaving .rms and the consumer surplus of their customers. There are, however, quite a few other welfare aspects. The negative externalities, say pollution, is reduced - we have not modelled such an externality explicitly. The moral individuals who abstain from buying from the unethical .rm do bene.t, though we abstracted from introducing this mechanism in our formal model if only to simplify. By implication, the immoral consumers who for the reasons of opportunism switch the .rm tend to cause a positive externality on the moral ones. Such a positive externality tends,
however, to be diluted if the private return on signalling a moral characteristic su¤ers from the number of boycotters. Organizing a boycott, however, can be socially costly as it represents a reduction in use of resources in a productive
activity. People who bear these costs may not be the same people who bene.t from boycotts as some are free-riders and can take opportunistically the advantage of lower prices of the products boycotted. Those less moral individuals who
buy from the unethical .rm su¤er a cost as they de.nitively are now separated from the moral ones.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-03/chick-fil-a-day-a-reminder-that-boycotts-often-backfire.html

http://enjustaperspectiva.blogspot.com/2012/12/el-fenomeno-de-la-comay.html

No esperemos a superman.  Historia previa:

[263] Anotaciones Sobre El Derecho Intelectual

No debato moralidades aqui.  Solo expongo puntos.

In an auditorium of 500, no matter how far my questions went down that garden path, maybe two hands went up. I just could not find a spot on the spectrum that would trigger these kids’ morality alarm. They listened to each example, looking at me like I was nuts.
Finally, with mock exasperation, I said, “O.K., let’s try one that’s a little less complicated: You want a movie or an album. You don’t want to pay for it. So you download it.”
There it was: the bald-faced, worst-case example, without any nuance or mitigating factors whatsoever.
“Who thinks that might be wrong?”
Two hands out of 500.
Now, maybe there was some peer pressure involved; nobody wants to look like a goody-goody.
Maybe all this is obvious to you, and maybe you could have predicted it. But to see this vivid demonstration of the generational divide, in person, blew me away.
I don’t pretend to know what the solution to the file-sharing issue is. (Although I’m increasingly convinced that copy protection isn’t it.)
I do know, though, that the TV, movie and record companies’ problems have only just begun. Right now, the customers who can’t even *see* why file sharing might be wrong are still young. But 10, 20, 30 years from now, that crowd will be *everybody*. What will happen then?

[237] The Leech Queen Passes the Torch (again)

Initial Rant

Post Original:

Madonna wins the Super Bowl | MetaFilter
Eww on the interface!!!
Half of the article vanished!!!
Blogger 4android sucks!!!
Regarding madonna. Great performance full of nwo and illuminati propaganda.  Will update article from desktop.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2097020/Madonna-Super-Bowl-halftime-2012-Singer-suffers-small-slip-up.html

http://alcantarillaalquimica.blogspot.com/2012/01/231-judas-iscariote-lady-gaga-y-la-era.html
http://alcantarillaalquimica.blogspot.com/2012/01/236-echar-pa-lante-propaganda-en-accion.html
http://alcantarillaalquimica.blogspot.com/2011/09/199-un-poco-de-transhumanismo.html

Back to the movie. The android completed, Rotwang tells it:
“I want you to visit those in the depths, in order to destroy the work of the woman in whose image you were created!”
Robot-maria responds:

One eye closed with devilish grin. You probably know the importance of the single eye from previous articles and the ridiculous amount of pop artists who flash it.
The Maria android is then sent to Yoshiwara, a man’s club, where she performs erotic dances. In one of her acts, she is portrayed as Babylon, the Great Harlot from the Apocalypse.

Playing the role of the Great Harlot Babylon of the Book of Revelation. “And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, having a golden cup in her hand”. She is held up by the seven deadly sins.
Do this scene remind you of a classic music video?

Madonna – Material Girl. How many realized that she was playing the role of Babylon here?
The programmed Maria performs mesmerizing dances in front of an avid public, causing men to fight, to lust, to be jealous and to commit the rest of the deadly sins. When she’s with her fellow workers,  Maria acts as an “agent-provocateur”, inciting the working men to riot and giving Joh Fredersen reason to use force against them. She is basically acting against the best interest of the public and for the interest of the elite.
With the help of their foreman (because they can’t really think for themselves), the workers ultimately realize that they have been mislead by the android. Believing that she’s a witch, they find robot-Maria and burn her at the stake.
A bunch of things happen after that, but I won’t spoil the ending for you (though can you really be mad at someone for spoiling the ending of a 83-year old movie?). The movie finishes with this caption:

This “moral of the story” is basically a message to the elite, a tip to keep the masses in check: in order to keep the oppressed content, you must capture their heart. That is what the media accomplish.
Which is kind of reminiscent of this music video ending:

Madonna’s Express Yourself video heavily borrowed its imagery from Metropolis. In turn, Christina Aguilera’s Not Myself Tonight, heavily borrowed from Express Yourself.

The Moral of the Story

The moral of the story of Metropolis is not “let’s abolish all inequities and rebuild a world where everyone is equal” and it is certainly not “let’s be democratic and vote for who we want as a ruler.” It is more “let’s send the workers back to the depths where they belong, but with the addition of a mediator, who will be the link between the workers and the thinkers”. So, when all is said and done, the movie is intrinsically “elitist,” as it still calls for the existence of an elite group of people holding most of the resources and managing a working class. In the end, the workers – and Freder – were duped, believing that their conditions would change. In fact, the status-quo remained and Joh even got his naive son to give the elite a friendly image while reporting everything happening in the depths, resulting in tighter surveillance and control.
Who is the Freder of today’s working class? The media. Media is the mediator. That is its function.

Fredersen, the link between “the hand and the head”, the Workers and the Thinkers. This role is played today by the media.
Mass media manipulate the masses’ thoughts and feelings on a daily basis, tricking them into loving their oppression. Popular culture is the entertainment branch of mass media and pop music is the fun way to communicate the elite’s message to the youth. References to Metropolis in pop music are almost winks to those in the know, the initiates, as if to say “this star is working for us”. So go ahead and be an ignorant, degenerate and materialistic person, like in the videos … that’s what they want you to be.

2003 VMA Perfomance

Taking place on a Masonic checkerboard-patterned floor, this symbolic performance is the ritualistic initiation of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera into the occult music business. The ceremony starts with Britney and Christina making their way down a pyramid-shaped cake singing Madonna’s Like a Virgin. The song choice is very significant as it describes the young singers’ purity and innocence before the ceremony. This is also reinforced by their white gowns. Then the Priestess comes out, wearing a black tuxedo and a Masonic top hat.

She sings Hollywood, a song about the city symbolizing the entertainment establishment, the gateway to super-stardom. Madonna is a representative of the occult industry and welcomes Britney and Christina into it. She sings:
Everybody comes to Hollywood
They wanna make it in the neighborhood
They like the smell of it in Hollywood
How could it hurt you when it looks so good?
Shine your light now
This time it’s got to be good
You get it right now
Cause you’re in Hollywood

The entire performance puts into light Madonna’s domination and superiority over the singers. She ultimately passes on the torch to the two singers with a symbolic kiss.

They should maybe bear in mind this verse from the song Hollywood:
I lost my memory in Hollywood
I’ve had a million visions bad and good
There’s something in the air in Hollywood
I tried to leave it but I never could

Following in the footsteps of Madonna, Christina and Britney then appeared to dabble with Kabbalah, though only a “Hollywood” brand of Kabbalah, as tattoos are not permitted in its sacred scriptures.

Left is Britney’s tattoo of the Hebrew letters Mem-Hey-Shin, one of the 72 names of God. This one represents “healing”. Right is Christina’s tattoo of the Hebrew characters Yud and Bet, apparently dedicated to her husband Jordan Bratman.
In the years that followed, Christina took the apparently obligatory “sexualization” path of Illuminati idols and also appeared in works associated with black magic and mind control.

[232] Another Theoretical Review - The Art of Pho

No me arrepiento.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_comic
A sibling format to motion comics called illustrated films was developed by transmedia studio HALO 8 Entertainment with their Godkiller, which was produced at the same time as (but separately from) the Watchmen motion comic. As opposed to repurposing an existing comic book, Halo-8 created new sequential art that was designed from its inception to be transmedia art for both a comic book and an illustrated film. Godkiller creator Matt Pizzolo told Bloody Disgusting "Godkiller was just a slower production than Watchmen because we had to create 200 pages of art and story from the ground up first, rather than starting with one of the greatest comic books ever made as source material. Plus we had a dozen voice performers instead of just one."[6]
Although aesthetically similar to motion comics, Pizzolo identifies illustrated film influences as including Liquid Television, the MTV cartoon adaptation of The Maxx, the Berserk anime series, Chris Marker's La jetée, the motion comic Broken Saints, and the experimental cinema of Ralph Bakshi.[7][8]
According to Comics Alliance, Pizzolo stated "the difference between an illustrated film and a motion comic is kind of the difference between a movie that was shot in 3D versus a movie that was shot in 2D but got a 3D post-conversion. We're not repurposing an existing comic book here, we're building something unique from scratch."[9]

Enter the Submarine Channel
http://www.submarinechannel.com/
Submarine Channel presenta videos, clips y comics interactivos.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703834804576301022363607508.html
Across the industry, the business of music videos has seen recent dramatic shifts. Three out of four major music companies now channel their videos through Vevo, an online video player and distributor launched in late 2009. After years of licensing their videos to sites all over the Web—and seeing measly financial returns—the labels now rely on Vevo to distribute their videos online and sell ads against them. By focusing on slick presentation and sponsored video premieres, the company has pushed ad rates higher. Vevo, whose traffic includes the videos it funnels into sites such as YouTube and Facebook, is the biggest music provider on the Web, attracting 54 million unique viewers last March, up from 37.5 million in the same month last year, according to ComScore Video Metrix.
"The old model cheapened the value of music videos," says Vevo President and Chief Executive Rio Caraeff. "We want to restore the premium lustre."
beyonce0505
Columbia Records
Beyoncé's 'Single Ladies' video (2008): 116 million YouTube views. A homemade homage by a chubby guy in a leotard: 20 million views.
Money is trickling back to the labels: A label whose videos rack up 10 million streams on Vevo could collect around $70,000.
The new economics of music videos have sent the medium in two different directions. On the high end, million-dollar clips are almost unheard of now, but "event" videos can occasionally carry price tags of up to $500,000. The cost of the recent Dr. Dre and Eminem video for "I Need a Doctor" included a Ferrari worth about $75,000. "We crashed it. You don't crash cars anymore," says Kathy Angstadt, head of visual content for Interscope Records.

http://mmbase.submarinechannel.com/project.jsp?projectid=9815
The goal of SubmarineChannel is to create new, interactive, cross media formats that use the qualities of the Internet and that can also migrate to other media, like television, mobile devices and film.

SubmarineChannel is both a distribution and a production platform for filmmakers and interactive artists who are exploring the potential of the web.

SubmarineChannel gathers the most stylish, offbeat, original and arresting artworks for the net into one place. You'll find linear and interactive works, because the bottom line is using new media to create new experience.
What's unique about SubmarineChannel is the range and scope of its activities. From design to Internet, from short digital films to animations and interactive graphic novels, SubmarineChannel provides a showcase for work aimed at a young but critical audience, one with a global perspective on digital culture.

Although based in mainland Europe, SubmarineChannel is global in scope    bringing inspiring and original work from Asia, North America and Europe together under one roof. It uses a range of possibilities for assembling this content, from exclusive licensing to acting as an agent and creating distribution deals with other web sites and media.

SubmarineChannel syndicates work not just to other web portals, but to TV companies, mobile services operators and other media, both traditional and novel. The12-strong company has full, cross-media production capabilities, from print and video to film and TV, and represents a growing stable of creative talent. These resources can also be used to take existing work and re-format and re-edit it, for example making made-for-Net films TV broadcast-ready.

Unlike most existing channels, SubmarineChannel also offers a mix of magazine and content delivery. By profiling artists and reporting on digital culture, SubmarineChannel puts works into perspective rather than just streaming as many as possible.

In Review: The Art of Pho

By Julian Hanshaw
Publisher: Jonathan Cape
ISBN: 9780224089845
Out: 1st July 2010

The Book: The noodle soup called pho is the national dish of Vietnam. When Little Blue - having been dropped by a mysterious man with a red car and being told to count to 500 - finds himself in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's baffling, daunting capital, his salvation is his own mobile pho stand. Little Blue's relationship with the city and its food brings an understanding to what it means to never want to return home and the fact that everyone goes away in the end.
http://bookmunch.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/graphic-yes-novel-not-so-much-the-art-of-pho-by-julian-hanshaw/
It takes a certain kind of graphic novel to cross over into the mainstream provided by publishers like Jonathan Cape. It can be nostalgiac and mordant, like, say, Seth’s recent George Sprott. It can emerge from the pen of one of the legends (like, say, Daniel Clowes whose recent Wilson we were so enamoured with). It can be political (like Joe Sacco’s Footnotes in Gaza), travelogue-y (like Guy Delisle’s ongoing work) or it can be memoir-y (like Alison Bechdel’s Funhome). It shouldn’t really be super hero-y (although Chris Ware can make that happen). And, occasionally, it may sacrifice narrative on the altar of art (see David Hughes’ Walking the Dog). As charming as Julian Hanshaw’s The Art of Pho is, it still tends to fall into that latter camp.
Little Blue is a small, childlike creature with an open-ended funnel for a nose who is left besides the road somewhere Vietnam-y by a man in a red car. Asked to stand and count to 500, a small community springs up around him that eventually gives him succour, with a roadside stand selling Pho. What is Pho when it’s at home, you may cry if you haven’t been to Vietnam yourself. Well, Pho is a kind of broth boiled up from beef bones and consisting of noodles and spring onions and chilli and coriander in hundreds of different ways (we learn that a bowl of Pho will taste particular and individual to whoever is selling it). Little Blue takes up residence with a group of travellers (all of whom are themselves selling Pho somewhere in the city) and gradually builds up a small coterie of regular customers – one of whom eventually invites Little Blue to cook for her at her home many miles away. This journey appears to presage some sort of crisis in which Little Blue learns something of his origins…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-462091/How-children-lost-right-roam-generations.html

When George Thomas was eight he walked everywhere.
It was 1926 and his parents were unable to afford the fare for a tram, let alone the cost of a bike and he regularly walked six miles to his favourite fishing haunt without adult supervision.
Fast forward to 2007 and Mr Thomas's eight-year-old great-grandson Edward enjoys none of that freedom.
He is driven the few minutes to school, is taken by car to a safe place to ride his bike and can roam no more than 300 yards from home

Bueno.

THE DECLINE OF PLAY
An article in the most recent issue of the American Journal of Play details not only how much children's play time has declined, but how this lack of play affects emotional development, leading to the rise of anxiety, depression, and problems of attention and self control.
"Since about 1955 ... children's free play has been continually declining, at least partly because adults have exerted ever-increasing control over children's activities," says the author Peter Gray, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology (emeritus) at Boston College. Gray defines "free play" as play a child undertakes him- or her-self and which is self-directed and an end in itself, rather than part of some organized activity.
Gray describes this kind of unstructured, freely-chosen play as a testing ground for life. It provides critical life experiences without which young children cannot develop into confident and competent adults. Gray's article is meant to serve as a wake-up call regarding the effects of lost play, and he believes that lack of childhood free play time is a huge loss that must be addressed for the sake of our children and society.

FIVE WAYS PLAY BENEFITS KIDS
When children are in charge of their own play, it provides a foundation for their future mental health as older children and adults. Gray mentions five main benefits:
1. Play gives children a chance to find and develop a connection to their own self-identified and self-guided interests.
As they choose the activities that make up free play, kids learn to direct themselves and pursue and elaborate on their interests in a way that can sustain them throughout life. Gray notes that: "...in school, children work for grades and praise and in adult-directed sports, they work for praise and trophies.... In free play, children do what they want to do, and the learning and psychological growth that results are byproducts, not conscious goals of the activity."
2. It is through play that children first learn how to make decisions, solve problems, exert self control, and follow rules.
As children direct their own free play and solve the problems that come up, they must exert control over themselves and must, at times, accept restrictions on their own behavior and follow the rules if they want to be accepted and successful in the game.
As children negotiate both their physical and social environments through play, they can gain a sense of mastery over their world, Gray contends. It is this aspect of play that offers enormous psychological benefits, helping to protect children from anxiety and depression.
"Children who do not have the opportunity to control their own actions, to make and follow through on their own decisions, to solve their own problems, and to learn how to follow rules in the course of play grow up feeling that they are not in control of their own lives and fate. They grow up feeling that they are dependent on luck and on the goodwill and whims of others...."
Anxiety and depression often occur when an individual feels a lack of control over his or her own life. "Those who believe that they master their own fate are much less likely to become anxious or depressed than those who believe that they are victims of circumstances beyond their control." Gray believes that the loss of playtime lessons about one's ability to exert control over some life circumstances set the scene for anxiety and depression.
3. Children learn to handle their emotions, including anger and fear, during play.
In free play, children put themselves into both physically and socially challenging situations and learn to control the emotions that arise from these stressors. They role play, swing, slide, and climb trees ... and "such activities are fun to the degree that they are moderately frightening ... nobody but the child himself or herself knows the right dose."
Gray suggests that the reduced ability to regulate emotions may be a key factor in the development of some anxiety disorders. "Individuals suffering from anxiety disorders describe losing emotional control as one of their greatest fears. They are afraid of their own fear, and therefore small degrees of fear generated by mildly threatening situations lead to high degrees of fear generated by the person's fear of losing control." Adults who did not have the opportunity to experience and cope with moderately challenging emotional situations during play are more at risk for feeling anxious and overwhelmed by emotion-provoking situations in adult life.
4. Play helps children make friends and learn to get along with each other as equals.
Social play is a natural means of making friends and learning to treat one another fairly. Since play is voluntary and playmates may abandon the game at any time if they feel uncomfortable, children learn to be aware of their playmates' needs and attempt to meet them in order to maintain the play.
Gray believes that "learning to get along and cooperate with others as equals may be the most crucial evolutionary function of human social play ... and that social play is nature's means of teaching young humans that they are not special. Even those who are more skilled at the game's actions ... must consider the needs and wishes of the others as equal to their own, or else the others will exclude them." Gray cites increasing social isolation as a potential precursor to psychopathology and notes that the decline in play may be "both a consequence and a cause of the increased social isolation and loneliness in the culture."
5. Most importantly, play is a source of happiness.
When children are asked about the activities that bring them happiness, they say they are happier when playing with friends than in any other situation. Perhaps you felt this way when remembering your own childhood play experiences at the beginning of this article.
Gray sees the loss of play time as a double whammy: we have not only taken away the joys of free play, we have replaced them with emotionally stressful activities. "[A]s a society, we have come to the conclusion that to protect children from danger and to educate them, we must deprive them of the very activity that makes them happiest and place them for ever more hours in settings where they are more or less continually directed and evaluated by adults, setting almost designed to produce anxiety and depression."

Me he puesto a ver peliculas estos dias.

The Tip of the Iceberg

I have just touched the tip of the iceberg. When you start to combine subliminal messages behind the music, subliminal visuals projected on the screen, hypnotically produced visual effects, sustained musical beats at a trance-inducing pace, you are talking conversion -- brainwashing. Every hour that you spend watching TV you become more conditioned. In case you thought there was a law against any of these things, guess again. There isn't. There are a lot of powerful people out there who probably have plans for you?

The Black Eyed Peas “Imma Be / Rock that Body” video is a masterpiece of high tech computer-generated imagery and state of the art digital music production. It is also one of the most blatant examples of Psychological Warfare and deception that I have ever seen in modern mass media. This article will discuss
1) What Transhumanism actually is.
2) The massive use of Psychological Warfare techniques in this video and all forms of mass media.
3) Analysis of the video, itself – to show you how these psychological concepts, the occult and Transhumanist symbolism and the deceptive storyline are integrated in this video to promote the dangerous agenda of the cult known as Transhumanism.

So, because the Nazi atrocities became so widely known, the ideas of Eugenics went underground for awhile. But the original ideas and goals of “improving the species” and “improving human genetic qualities” are still front and center, albeit in a more subtle and glamorous package now. They try to avoid discussing those embarrassing ideas, like how to keep the undesirable races from breeding so much.
The modern mutation of Transhumanism claims to only support “voluntary eugenics“, which sounds much more benevolent than mandatory sterilization and euthanasia of undesirable humans, doesn’t it? But, if you have any sense at all, you will probably realize that this ethnic cleansing of the gene pool (“improving the species” and “improving human genetic qualities”) simply cannot and will not ever happen if it is voluntary.
We should all understand that ideas such as “voluntary eugenics” will not be voluntary anymore, if and when the people who believe in these radical ideas get political and financial power. In fact, they already do have substantial wealth and power, and are working very hard to impose this Transhumanist agenda on our world – whether we like it or not.

http://vigilantcitizen.com/musicbusiness/the-esoteric-interpretation-of-the-black-eyed-peas-meet-me-halfway/

Cabala?, Bodas Alquimicas?, Illuminati?

http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?recnum=8384

They Think We're the Enemy
So far, except for the issue of genetics and eugenics, surprisingly many of the advancements in modern medicine and technology are compatible with Catholicism. Unfortunately, many of their more radical proponents don't feel the same way. In fact, several notable and opinion-leading transhumanists are strongly anti-Christian.
For example, prominent transhumanist William Sims Bainbridge, the author of more than 15 books and numerous magazine and journal articles, opens an article with the following abstract: "Cognitive science immediately threatens religious faith in two ways, by explaining away religion as an error resulting from accidents in the evolutionary history of the human nervous system, and by failing to find evidence that humans possess souls. Over the coming decades, information technology may undercut people's need for religion by offering practical forms of cyberimmortality (CI). The plausibility of religion may also be eroded by the coming unification of science and the associated convergence of [new] technologies."
Even more troubling is language on the Web site for the Future Technologies Advisory Group (www.futuretag.net), a transhumanist organization specializing in consulting and media: "While one of the objectives of the firm will be facilitating the penetration of transhumanist ideas in mainstream business and policy, we will not use the T word or insist on the transhumanist worldview too explicitly. Rather, we will focus on delivering practical advice appropriate to the intended audience." The willingness expressed here to dissemble their true intentions is disconcerting.
And yet there must be open and honest dialogue on these issues. "We are moving way beyond these old challenges to human life," argues Cameron, who says we need to change our focus of attention. We need to "ask the right questions" and work toward finding ethical answers -- answers consistent with the Catholic moral tradition -- before the future arrives.
Lines of communication need to be opened between Christian bioethicists and transhumanists. Cameron, for example, calls Kurzweil "a man of genius" and "no mere academic theorist," while Kurzweil makes the surprising statement that through human-driven evolution, people can "grow exponentially in intelligence, knowledge, creativity, beauty, and love, all of the qualities people ascribe to God without limit," implying that "we can view evolution as a spiritual process, moving ever closer to this ideal." Men of this intellectual stature need forums in which they can communicate with each other. (To be fair, Cameron is already in contact with WTA president Nick Bostrom and others, but he's one of the only pro-life leaders doing so.)
Bloch writes that when transhumanist goals have been achieved, "Many of humanity's ills will be eliminated. I find that sufficient comfort in the continuing march from lives which are nasty, brutal, and short to those which are not quite as nasty, not as brutal, and hopefully longer." Statements like this illustrate that many in this movement simply want a better future -- an excellent starting point for dialogue.
Catholic journalists need to be aware of the underlying agendas in some of these scientific movements (www.bioethics.com, co-edited by Eppinette, is an excellent source for keeping up-to-date). Pro-life politicians and lobbying groups need to stay attuned to scientific progress to know which technologies to support, which to oppose, and which to treat with a laissez-faire attitude of benign neglect. (A good starting point is the 2003 government report "Beyond Therapy: Biotechnology and the Pursuit of Happiness," available at bioethics.gov/reports/beyondtherapy/.) And bioethicists need to start asking the right questions.
Eppinette advises us that, "for people of faith, and Christians in particular, we know that technology is not to be our God, and technology is most definitely not our Savior. Each of us has to examine the role of technology in our own lives, and how it squares with what we consider to be most important in life. This does not mean that we become luddites, rejecting new forms of technology. What it means is that we carefully consider how technology fits into our lives, whether it helps or hinders the goals we've set for ourselves" -- which, he adds, may involve taking a closer look at those very goals.
New technologies always bring new ethical dilemmas. We can't afford to be unaware of the challenges facing us today. The future is almost here.

http://www.cbc-network.org/2011/08/the-trouble-with-transhumanism-2/

Needless to say, creating such a society foresees the destruction of human exceptionalism, which transhumanists disdain as limiting their genetic recreationist (in Leon Kass’s words) ambitions and establishing behavioral norms. Thus, being human in a transhumanist world would be morally irrelevant. Rather, Munkittrick writes, “Rights discourse will shift to personhood instead of common humanity.”
In such a world, the value of human life would cease to be intrinsic, but would become relative. “Animals (including humans),” he writes—deploying yet another human-diminishing sentiment—”will be granted rights based on varying degrees of personhood . . . When African grey parrots, gorillas, and dolphins have the same rights as a human toddler, a transhuman friendly rights system will be in place.” Indeed.
Transhumanism is a long way from being attained, and the world Munkittrick envisions will almost surely never come fully into being. But that doesn’t mean we won’t become crassly transhumanist in our personal and societal values. If we are going to preserve a culture founded on the Judeo/Christian ideal of equal human dignity and the obligation for individual behavioral restraint, transhumanism must be resisted intellectually and rejected, both in our public policies and the ways in which we lead our personal lives.

No esperen conclusiones de esto.  Solo presente links.
